New Sena Cases for Blackberry, Samsung, and Treo

New Sena Cases for Blackberry, Samsung, and Treo
Sena Cases have some new cool cases for your cellphone, that is, if you own a Blackberry 8700c, Samsung i730 or a Treo 700w.

The top image is a not only a leather case for the Blackberry 8700c, but also a mini-wallet. It has space for 2 credit cards or business cards, and an extra space for a random thing such as money.

Accessibility is one of the top features in this case, with easy access to all buttons including the reset one, a headphone and a speaker phone opening. It is also able to work with the sleep function of Blackberry's. And to finish it off, a magnetic type of closure, so you forget the times when a flip case opens itself.

If you want to hang it around your belt, the Bandam Belt Clip is an optional product. The Sena case for the Blackberry 8700c costs $50, and is available in 3 colors - black, red and tan. More images here.

The other cellphone that deserves a case from Sena, is the Samsung SCH-i730. The details are similar to the Blackberry case, just a few changes: addition of a "Hot-sync thru travel cable", and removal of the two extra pockets for credit cards.

Can you hear me now?

Can you hear me now?

Dear Coworker:

I'm an easygoing guy. I know sometimes you have to answer your cell phone in the men's restroom. Not just standing at a urinal, either, but in the stall. Sometimes you're expecting a call that you just can't miss, and you have to take it wherever it comes in. I'm cool with that. I understand.

And I know these days, the speakerphones on cell phones come in really handy. They sound much better than they used to, and the microphones really help your caller understand what's going on.

But here's the thing: please don't combine the two.

Please don't answer your cell phone from inside the restroom stall, and put it on speaker.

Because when I'm done, I'm going to flush, and the sound of the flush may not completely mask my merciless laughter at your predicament.

Thanks for your understanding.

Cell Phone Reviews - Why Do Them?

Cell Phone Reviews - Why Do Them?
Well let's be honest some people just don't bother doing cell phone reviews, and why should they? Well let's keep things simple, would you just walk into a car showroom and drive away within 5 minutes, not a number of would unless you have done your homework first. Cell phones can be complex, you need to know what you what before you jump and buy, and then there are the cell phone carriers, who to choose from. A little research goes along way. The cell phones today are far different than when first introduced onto the market. We now have GPS phones, camera phone, PDA phones and phones with Bluetooth technologies. Bluetooth, when it first came out I thought it was a fashion icon to dye your teeth. You have to be aware of what you are buying in order to maximise the usage.

What are you using the phone for?

Simple question like what is the phone for, need to be answered. Do you need the cell phone for business, general call or fun (camera phones). What cell phone manufacturer do you prefer, or do you even know of any? Well here are a few to keep your mind open: Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, Motorola, NEC, Oki, Sony Ericsson, Philips, JRC and Mitsubishi to name but a few. Well let's put things into perfective, all the major cell phone manufacturers claim to better than the other, word off month from friends and family will give you an honest opinion or maybe you have used a prior cell phone from one of these manufacturers. Everybody has a key use for the cellular phone, do you need to take photos? If so the camera phone is really the only option, if you need quality photos you need to check if the camera phone has a zoom in and out option and what the pixel rate is. Do you want a flip screen cell phone or standard display?........

    CeBIT '06: E61 Music Phone

    IMG_0590.JPG
We talked with some of the folks at BenQ and they're basically saying that we probably won't be seeing a lot of these phones in the U.S. this year. For example, you've got the E61 with dedicated music keys on top.

It comes with 1MB built-in but the phone supports MiniSD for up to 1GB of memory and has a 6-band equalizer and even shows karaoke-esque lyrics on the screen so you can sing along to your favorite tunes.

    'Hands Free' Isn't Mind Free

    'Hands Free' Isn't Mind Free
Do you think using a hands-free device makes it okay to talk on a cell phone while driving? Despite the well-intended laws requiring the use of hands-free devices, a driver's performance is impaired when distracted by even the simplest tasks, whether or not both hands are on the steering wheel.

Until now, the slowing of reaction time under multitasking conditions, referred to as the psychological-refractory-period (PRP) effect, has been studied mainly with simple tasks in laboratory settings. But a new research study presents a unique perspective of how the PRP effect pertains to driving, perhaps the most ubiquitous real-world task where non-optimal performance can have serious consequences.

The study was conducted by University of California, San Diego researchers Jonathan Levy and Harold Pashler, along with Erwin Boer of ERB Consulting. Their research appears in the article "Central Interference in Driving: Is There Any Stopping the Psychological Refractory Period?" in the recent issue of Psychological Science.

Forty students took part in the study, which involved driving a car simulator, composed of a large plasma screen, a steering wheel, and gas and brake pedals located on the floor. In the simulation, students followed a lead car and were instructed to brake as soon as they saw the illumination of the lead car's brake lights (they were instructed to avoid gradual slowing even if it was possible). While subjects performed the braking task, they occasionally were mandatory to respond to a concurrent easy task, where a stimulus - either a light flash in the lead car's rear window or an auditory tone - was randomly presented once or twice. Participants indicated the stimulus' frequency, sometimes by pressing a key on the steering wheel once or twice and sometimes by saying aloud the words "one" or "two".........

    Cell phone adventures

    Cell phone adventures
    Read this interesting article.

I'm not a cell phone guy. I resisted getting one at all for years, and even now I rarely carry it. To a first approximation, I don't really like talking to most people, so I don't go out of my way to enable people to call me. However, a little while ago I misplaced the old phone I commonly take to Armadillo, and my wife picked up a more modern one for me. It had a nice color screen and a bunch of bad java game demos on it. The bad java games did it.

I am a big proponent of temporarily changing programming scope every once in a while to reset some assumptions and habits. After Quake 3, I spent some time writing driver code for the Utah-GLX project to give myself more empathy for the various hardware vendors and get back to some low-level register programming. This time, I decided I was going to work on a cell phone game.........

    Pink Motorola SLVR

    pinkslvr.jpg

If you've always wanted a pink phone to call your very own but for some reason neither the hot pink nor baby pink editions of Motorola's clamshell RAZR V3c did it for you, maybe you'll like the candybar goodness of the pink SLVR L6. It's super thin, has Bluetooth and runs iTunes, but alas, only a VGA camera. Motorola says the SLVR L6 "is perfect for girls who like to be out and about" but c'mon now, everyone knows party girls need at least a megapixel to take really good drunken self-portraits with.
