X Sting Wish stops the fire

X Sting Wish stops the fire
Sometimes, designers take a look at devices and ask why we do things a certain way. Take fire extinguishers, for example. They are confusing to use with a canister in one hand and a hose in the other. Controls are hardly instinct, so designer Adam Scott has created the X Sting Wish.

As you can see, the X Sting Wish is a regular fire extinguisher, but with a definite futuristic twist. In fact, if Ripley from Aliens needed to put out a fire, she would definitely use this. The design is like that of a heavy machine gun that is "easily used, easily recognized". So all you need to do is point and shoot and fire on the fire.

So, are we looking at a future where the X Sting Wish will be on the walls of office buildings to be used "In Case of Emergency". That is definitely my wish for the X Sting Wish.

Casio Exilim EX-FH20 Digital Camera Is Ultra Mega Everything

Casio Exilim EX-FH20 Digital Camera Is Ultra Mega Everything
If ever there was a camera that could fill a number of niches the Casio Exilim EX-FH20 Digital Camera is the one.

I have to say that this camera could very well be the do it all whiz kid for an array of photographic assignments including sports and other action, wildlife, portrait and landscape.

Sound impossible, well consider that this camera is capable of 40 frames per second burst shooting and has a 26-520 mm, 35mm equivalent zoom lens, and a 9.1 CMOS sensor.

Oh yeah, it also has the ability to shoot video at 1000 frames per second, yes, that's 1000 fps!

The expected anti shake mechanism and other useful gizmos are included and it can record HD Movies at 1280 x 720 pixels, at 30 fps.

If this camera could make pizza people would want to marry it.

Check out this Casio digital camera marvel.

Nokia 5800 Xpress Music Player vs the iPhone

Nokia 5800 Xpress Music Player vs the iPhone
Nokia is saying its first iPhone clone will be in Europe and Asia before the end of this year, but not until next year in North America. No carrier(s) selected yet either. Estimates are that it will cost just under $400.

The mostly black phone has a touch screen of course, but many non-iPhone dazzlers: a 3.2 megapixel camera with Zeiss lens, stereo Bluetooth, microSD card slot, GPS, lots of memory, and PIM features that the iPhone lacks, which has always been a deal-breaker for me. The Nokia 5800 Xpress Music Player is also a world phone and, as the name tells you, a swell music player.

Etc. etc. etc. Details at Crave.

Ewoo iPod Docks

Ewoo iPod Docks
Yesterday, I reported on the Altec Lansing's The Orbit, an iPod speaker system. If you are still looking for an iPod dock of some kind, you might want to check out Ewoo's three new models.

The HandMusic (pictured above) comes with a remote control that is "specifically designed to match that of the player". It is compatible with A/V equipment, and it has a 1.8 inch color LCD display for S-Video viewing. It should be available soon for about $200.

The eFizz dock has an added bonus of sound for the increased price. It comes with a 2.1-channel sound system, with speakers and subwoofer that can put out 70W of RMS power. You should be able to get this for about $600.

The eFizz Travel is designed for just that, as it can play up to 20 hours worth of playback on a single charge. This one is available for $200.

Cliphanger for cell phones, iPhones and iPods, now with flashlight
One of Popgadget''s favorite accessories, Cliphanger, now has a very simple yet useful add-on, a little flashlight for those moments when you need just a little bit of light.

The original Cliphanger is a very lightweight clip shaped somewhat like a large paper clip that you attach to the back of your cell phone ($12.95 for one, but cheaper by the pack). You can then clip it onto a belt loop, purse strap, dashboard (or any surface using the included autohook that you attach to the surface). The Cliphanger Light version is $16.95 for a single purchase.

It now comes in 16 different colors, including the 6 lighter colors shown above. Cliphanger also makes 50 different kinds of shields with attached Cliphangers, including the one below for the iPhone 3G (for $19.95). All can be purchased directly from the Cliphanger website. Some versions are also available at Amazon.

Leapfrog's New Handheld

Leapfrog's New Handheld
Handheld gaming systems are a great way for kids to pass the time on summer afternoons. Kids use them in the car, on airplanes, and even outside when they should be playing. If the kids are playing with them, why not trick them into learning a little bit. That is Leapfrog's plan with their new handheld edutainment device The Didj Custom Gaming System.

What is the point with another handheld gaming system (especially since it educational)? The Custom in the Didj Gaming system title comes from an adults ability to load custom information and learning goals into the system. For example, if your child is playing a spelling game, and they have a spelling list from school, you can connect the Didj to your PC via a USB connection and load their spelling list into the game for playing. You can load all sorts of custom content including math, spelling, and reading. This way you can use the gaming system to support what is going on in the classroom. Users can also custom design games, color schemes, and avatars. This actually sounds pretty cool.

The Didj Custom Gaming system features a 3.2 inch TFT display, a 393 MHz Arm Processor, 32MB or operating RAM, and 256MB of storage NAND flash memory. It is available for pre-order now, and will ship in August. It costs $89.99.

Sony Ericsson wins the Green Peace Award

Sony Ericsson wins the Green Peace Award
Sony Ericsson is going through a rough time lately but finally there is some good news for Swedish-Japanese mobile giant. It has won the Green Peace Award to become the greenest electronics company in the world. This is definitely a milestone for the struggling mobile giant as it is the only company that has secured 5 out of 10 points. Nokia came second followed by Samsung, Dell, Toshiba and other companies.

This is the result of environment friendly measures taken by Sony Ericsson to ban the usage of PVC and other harmful chemicals from its phones that were launched since January 2008. The Greener Electronics Guide by Green Peace rates electronics companies based on their recycling programs, their use of harmful chemicals and their energy waste.
