Hyperdog Ball Launcher
ReHyperdog Tennisball Launcher we showed you nearly two years ago? Well, this slingshot-looking contraption is just like that, only four times more powerful and at least ten times wackier.
The appropriaHyperdog Ball Launcher launches tennis balls up to 220 feet at speeds that I hope are safe for dogs and innocent passersby. Made of surgical tubing, it has a collapsible arm for easy storage and some sort of "hands-free pickup for a slobber-free fetch session" feature.
For just $29.95, the Ball Launcher may be an affordable way for your dog to shed some pounds, but the opposite may be true for you. No throwing, standing, or bending down necessary? Sounds like a surefire way to pack on a few to me.

Will the New iPod Fuel a Vlog Revolution?
I was a little bummed to see Apple's announcement of the new 30GiPod becaiPod Nano arrived on Monday! While the Nano is cool, I was a bit disappointed with the capacity. Mine only loaded 678 songs. I guess I've got too many long songs in my music library. That must mean I need one of the new iPods to add to my collection.
The new iPods look great. However, I'm not sure one of the big benefits being touted, the ability to watch Desperate Housewives and Lost (the ABC shows that will be available to buy through the iTunes store) the day after the shows appear on television, is all that big.
The more interesting question is whether the new iPodsvlogs the same way that the older iPods helped to podcast revolution. Stay tuned. I'm sure there's more paradigm shifting to come from the folks at Apple.

The Nokia N95 Jumps the Pond
(image from NokiaFlasthe launch of the Nokia N95 in Europe, the Finnish manufacturer's latest do-it-all gadget is now available in America for $750.
The jaw-dropping sticker price is due in part of American service operators' unwillingness to subsidize the Symbian S60 smartphone. The apparent lack of models supported by a two-year contract continues to be Nokia's weakness in the North American market, despite its clear commitment to increase its presence.
To the launch of the Nokia N95 in Europe is a phone. And a media player. And a 5-megapixel camera. And a connectivity champ. You get the ideis available online, and at Nokia's stores in New York and Chicago.

Astute Advances Waterfall Plasma TV
If I ever become a James Bond villain, and set up one of those giant lairs with the big screens, I want the Waterfall Plasma TV to display my plan for World Domination. Once I capture Bond, I'll proceed to tell him my diabolical scheme with my 42 to 60 inch screen. And then I guess I'll put him in a prison so he can bust out and stop me later.
This product by Astute Advances is a definite luxury item, and I'm certain it is quite expensive to have one installed. (No price listed on the Product Page.) I can only guess that it somehow projects a video image on water, but I'm highly doubtful that it will give a clear picture.
Expect to see the Waterfall Plasma TV in the lobby of some high-class offices.

MP3 Player with Snafu Clip
I've never really heard of GAJAH, but they presented a new MP3 Player at CeBIT 2007. GAJAH's MP3 Player plays MP3s, all right, and that's about all I know about it.
All except its unique design. As you can see, the product has this shape that is like a bent twig. It is designed to attach to your clothing. I guess the clip wasn't enough, because this MP3 Player is a clip.
For some reason, GAJAH calls this a "Snafu clip". I would have to say that I don't think that is a good name. Doesn't SNAFU stand for: "Situation Normal: All F***ed Up?"
Hopefully that won't happen when this product hits the market.

iPods help docs improve stethoscope skills
(Photo by Joseph V. Labolito / Temple University)
Patients rely on their physicians to recognize signs of trouble, yet for common heart murmurs, that ability is only fair at best. Fortunately, the solution is simple: listening repeatedly. In fact, intensive repetition - listening at least 400 times to each heart sound - significantly improved the stethoscope abilities of doctors, as per a research studypresented today at the American College of Cardiology's annual meeting.
After demonstrating last year that medical students greatly improved their stethoscope skills by listening repeatedly to heart sounds on their iPods, lead investigator Michael Barrett, M.D., clinical associate professor of medicine and heart specialist at Temple University School of Medicine and Hospital, set out to test the technique on practicing physicians.
During a single 90-minute session, 149 general internists listened 400 times to five common heart murmurs including aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation, mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation and innocent systolic murmur. Prior studies have observed the average rate of correct heart sound identification in physicians is 40 percent. After the session, the average improved to 80 percent.
Proficiency with a stethoscope - and the ability to recognize abnormal heart sounds - is a critical skill for identifying dangerous heart conditions and minimizing dependence on expensive medical tests.........
